Veteran winger Peter Mueller was released from his PTO with the Bruins after a couple of decent preseason performances at the start of training camp, and young prospects Jeremy Lauzon, Jakub Zboril, Zachary Senyshyn and Jesse Gabrielle were returned to their respective junior hockey teams for another year of development.
More than Mueller’s decent performance, his cut from camp probably represents just how good Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk have been as both players continue to compete for open wing spots with the Black and Gold. Likewise, Brandon Carlo is still pushing for a job among the D-men corps with two strong preseason games under his belt.
In all 23 players were cut from NHL training camp on Sunday with three preseason games left to go prior to Boston’s Oct. 13 season opener against Columbus.
